Look closely at the horizon of this image and you will see two ships at sea. They will often be at anchor for days turning into weeks. According to www.marinetraffic.com, the vessel on the left is an LPG tanker called the Gas Texiana, bearing the flag of the Marshall Islands. It was formerly called Gas Teyana, Catterick and Lady Erika. Is it typical for vessels to be renamed so often?  I am not sure what kind of life that is, floating out there and waiting for so long.

  1. Apparently it is standard maritime practise to change a vessel’s name when it is bought by another owner.
