I have always liked these steps at Hartlepool’s South Pier. The pier has style. I think it is under appreciated and not as frequented as it could be. If someone could maybe have a tea and coffee stand at the far end and a hot food stall at the other, more people would walk along and check out the view at the far end? Just a thought.
I’ve got to agree with you about this pier, you rarely see people walking along it.
Possibly people see it as a road to nowhere. It can be a bracing walk in the winter months.
The original pier, known locally as The Skeleton, was demolished in the 80’s then rebuilt to the concrete structure we see today. Must have cost a fortune.
All credit to you for venturing out to investigate and get the shot.
I presume the pier was built with Teesside Development Corporation money. It does feel like a road to nowhere at present, and technically it is, but with rewarding views.
